Principal's Welcome
I wish to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the St Mary’s community.
St Mary’s is a welcoming learning community that aims to inspire each child in our school to be the best they can be.
We place relationships at the heart of all we do at St. Mary’s and we are committed to providing a safe, harmonious learning environment where successful relationships thrive. We promote and develop positive and respectful relationships, recognising that social-emotional learning is the key to academic success. As principal, I look forward to working with you and your child and hope that your child finds, in our school, a happy, friendly and secure atmosphere and one which will stimulate their desire to learn and discover.
Our school motto is ‘Friends, Family Community - Together we Grow’ and we act this out in a caring, cooperative, purposeful and success-oriented environment. We value close partnerships between students, staff, parents and the wider community.
As a learning community, we strive for excellence and continual improvement as lifelong learners. We provide a holistic curriculum, engaging students through the arts, physical activity and through digital and design technologies to foster deep learning and creativity. Our targeted teaching programs ensure that each child is supported and challenged as an individual learner to make growth and progress.
We believe our role as educators is to work in partnership with parents, acknowledging the learning that has already occurred at home. Children need to observe their parents and teachers sharing common beliefs, attitudes and goals. When they experience this they will feel more secure and purposeful. Through participation in the St Marys Religious Education Program, children will be encouraged in an atmosphere of positiveness and supportiveness. They will develop a healthy self-concept and respect the values and beliefs of others.
We have a very dedicated teaching staff. Our staff work in a highly collaborative environment and have a strong commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth, in order to provide the very best learning opportunities to each individual student in our care.
It is a genuine privilege as Principal to be part of the learning journey of each child at St. Mary’s and to be part of a dedicated, energetic and collaborative team, who are genuinely committed to every child, every day.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our school community.
Mr Tony McMahon
